This famous Maggi brand launched in India in 1983, when Nestle first introduced the noodles to Indian consumers.
Early Struggles: In the beginning, the brand struggled with low sales because these instant noodles did not fit the traditional Indian idea of a healthy, standard meal.
How it Became Successful The "2-Minute" Slogan:The "2-Minute Noodles" slogan successfully attracted Indian consumers. Ingredients
Maggi Noodles: 2 packets
Oil: 2 tbsp (Mustard oil adds a great pungent flavor, but use your choice!)
Onions: 2 medium, finely chopped
Tomatoes: 2 medium, chopped
Garlic: 3 to 4 cloves, minced
Green Chillies: 1-2, sliced (adjust to your taste)
Red Chilli Powder: 1 tsp
Coriander Powder: 1-2 tsp
Turmeric Powder (Haldi): A generous pinch
Garam Masala: ½ tsp (highly recommended for an extra kick)
Water: As needed
Fresh Coriander or Parsley: A handful, chopped for garnish
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step.1.Sizzle the Aromatics
Pour your choice of oil into a pan and let it warm up over medium heat. Toss in the minced garlic and sliced green chillies. Let them sizzle for a few seconds until your kitchen smells amazing.
Step.2.Soften the Veggies
Drop in the chopped onions and tomatoes. Sauté the mixture gently until the onions turn translucent and the tomatoes break down into a soft, mushy base.
Step.3.Spice it Up
Now, introduce the dry spices. Stir in the red chilli powder, coriander powder, haldi, and garam masala. Keep stirring for a minute so the spices toast evenly without burning.
Step.4.The Water & Noodle Base
Pour in the required amount of water and bring the mixture to a rolling boil. Take your Maggi noodles, break them using both hands to your preferred length, and drop them into the bubbling spiced water along with the taste maker packets.
Step.5.Simmer to Perfection
Place a lid over the pan. Let everything simmer until the noodles absorb the liquid and the water dries up to your desired consistency.
Step.6.Garnish and Dig In
Turn off the stove. Scatter a handful of fresh chopped coriander or parsley over the top. Dish it out immediately and enjoy a steaming bowl of comfort!
Extra Tips:
• Add a little tomato ketchup for an extra burst flavour.
• To make your maggi healthier, toss in some fresh vegetables like simla mirch (bell peppers).
• Do not overheat or over cook it, otherwise your maggie might lose it great taste.
• Avoid Adding too many extra spices. Maggi Noodles already come with their own flavourful tastemaker (Maggi Masala).
• My Recommendation: if you prefer simple maggi, skip the extra spices entirely and only use the included magic masala packet. Adjust it According to your personal taste.
• Note: You can add any vegetables you like. Fell free to adjust the ingredients and quantities according to your needs!
